When We’re Patriotic

By Starlene Stringer

When our Nation comes together

It’s always too late

If we wore ribbons and waved flags before someone died-

Now, that would be great

Why does it always take the death of many

To rediscover our patriotism

Before tragedy

It seems there’s barely any

I shouldn’t say it’s too late

Cause we’re still alive

But to keep patriotism ongoing

How many more must die.
