Little Things I Keep Writing

By Starlene Stringer

I keep hearing voices

I keep visioning things

But nothing that’s helpful

Or livens their dreams

The thousands of people

Pleading for one more chance

While constantly remembering

What was said to them last

The last smile that they saw

The last hug that they gave

To some – last second e-mails

And phone calls were made

What we usually think of as normal things

Little and small

Suddenly seem

Like the biggest and best things of all

So I’ll keep my pen writing

As thoughts flow through my head

And I pray to help someone

By something I’ve said.
